Training in 2012
Pre-season training for all Ivanhoe players resumes on Monday 16 January 2012 at Ivanhoe Park. During pre-season training nights will be Monday’s and Wednesday’s commencing at 6:15pm at Ivanhoe Park (unless otherwise announced). Regular season training will be Tuesday and Thursday nights with a change over to these nights to be announced at a later date.
It is important to have as many players at all sessions to enable the teams to develop team patterns and plays that will be vital to our success in 2012. So please get yourself and your mates down to the club and make 2012 a premiership season!!!
Christmas Break
The last night of training before our Christmas break will be Wednesday 14 December 2011. Please make an effort to be there as their will be a celebratory BBQ after training (BBQ at 7:30pm) for all players (U19′s, Seniors, Reserves & Clubbies). If you haven’t been to a training session yet, it would be a good one to show your face at and catch up with your mates. Part of the training session will include an important session from the people at ‘Good Sports’ on Looking After Our Mates (LAOM).
Did you know that 25% of drivers and riders killed are over 0.05 BAC and that 1/3 of all drivers killed whilst over 0.05 BAC are aged between 18 and 25? Well it is true and something we as a club really care about, after all, most of our players fit in this age bracket! These things and much more will be covered in the LAOM session on this night, so it is extremely important to attend.
Parents and supporters are more than welcome to attend both the LOAM session and the Christmas break BBQ!!!
Season 2012
It is that time of year where you need to start putting some thought into the coming football season. Training commences in the next month and it will be an important time in our development for the coming season as we again look to get younger, faster, fitter and more importantly, better. Whilst there will be a fitness component attached to all our training sessions it won’t be our main focus pre-xmas. Our main objectives in this time will be to put some work into:
- Skill development
- Expanding on the basics
- Game plans
- Structures
- Leadership
- Team and club culture
- Individual assessments
So although you have nothing to fear about being flogged into the ground, players commencing on the 9th of November will be undertaking fitness tests to identify areas they need further development in. General training will also require an adequate level of fitness for you to complete the sessions. So if you have spent your off-season doing nothing other than a bit of carbo loading, then right now would be a good time to start going for a few runs and getting a head start on your team mates!
Pre-season will be run a little differently this year compared to previous years with a staggered start for players over the summer months
Training dates are as follows:
Wednesday 9th of November 2011: Training commences for everybody aged 24 and under (Seniors and 19′s)
Wednesday 30th of November 2011: Training commences for all other people wanting to play Senior football in 2012
Monday 16th of January 2012: Training re-commences for everybody including Reserves and Club XVIII Players
(Players are welcome to join training before their allocated dates but are not expected to)
Training commences at 6:15pm sharp and will be held every Monday and Wednesday night.
Training venues will be advised throughout the summer with the first session on the 9th at Ivanhoe Park
